Tips/Techniques Screw Press?

I'm thinking of making a 'model engineer' bar stock version of this - whatever they are called - screw press? I've seen the cast iron arbor presses & they just seem a bit ill suited to my needs. I think the better quality ones would work but they are a small fortune. Some of the budget offerings look a bit janky quality wise. Has anyone seen plans or parallel applications of a screw press I could plagiarize? I'm guessing some sort of ACME/trapezoidal screw is required, but maybe there are better options? Must be a thrust bearing on the business end? Maybe a universal end piece that allows different attachments.

acme screw definitely... Not sure about thrust bearings load capacities. I used one on my cider press but that doesn't get that much pressure

The bearing crossed my mind too. I guess I should figure out what the rack & pinion presses push just as reference. My version would be lighter duty. I'm thinking I'd be happy with the mechanics of a Kurt vise standing upright. The D100 vise for example has 16,000 lbs force & from what I can tell, they use these type of bearings.
