  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Ontario GTA West area meetup is planned for Saturday April 26th at Greasemonkeys shop in Aylmer Ontario. If you are interested and haven’t signed up yet, click here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. No date has been selected yet, so let him know if you are interested here! We are not aware of any other meetups being planned this year. I stumbled across this article while surfing. Thought that, as basic as it is, illustrates an application of other tools to get the job done in a pinch. In this case, for those of us with out a ball cutter.

 
I have used round-over milling cutters before. Take one cutting edge (most of mine have 4) and set it up just like they show in the article. Works quite well.

The process does have a tendency to chatter when the full radius is engaged at the end. I found that working in both X and Z in small increments to minimize the engaged cutting length works better. The material was 4330, so maybe not a good comparison to softer stuff…
