Works OK for me! I have a slight delay before the picture shows but not that bad. I'm using Firefox browser on Windows 10. I would guess it' all about the software versions you are using and your machines processing speed.

Images loaded as thumbnails are most likely going to work. Full size images continue to be problematic.

It’s also better that if you’re going to attach a photo that you then insert a thumbnail in the body of the post: that way readers don’t need to wait for a large file to download.

When you say 'attach a photo that you then insert a thumbnail in the body of the post' I'm confused.
- I have used the Attach Files button. That automatically attaches thumbnail, does it not?
- If I just paste an image into body of text, I don't see any option to make it a thumbnail for compaction or improve loading.
Am I missing a technique?

The Attach Files button attaches the file to the post as something that can be opened into a full image. What it doesn't do is insert the photo inline with text. So if you are trying to illustrate the progression of a project and you want to describe a photo, then add describe the next step and insert a photo then you have to insert each photo in the relevant place in your post. (I hope that makes sense...)

If you cut and paste a photo into the post, the photo becomes an attachment. At that point you can select the photo in the post, delete it and then use the "Insert..." to chose either Thumbnail or Full Image.

Thanks. Not sure if this is helpful or not, but on other forums, they automatically trim inserted images to a certain size regardless of how big it was sent. Usually due to people who don't know better or don't have convenient editing tools on their photo weapon of choice (usually a phone). Almost always, bigger is not better. But if a restriction like this just so happens to help with post viewing, worth considering. When it comes to IT I'm more of an 'idea man'. Coding is something best left to others (cause I cant haha).

We have an image resizer on the forum but it's not working correctly and no one seems to be able to fix it.

I tried making a screen recording (that part worked), but I couldn't upload it; let's try this:

• Click where you want the photo to go

• Click on the "Photo" tab at the top of the message window
Task Bar Photo.png

• Drag your photo to the "Drop image" pop-up

• Your photo will be added as an attachment and be inserted in the body of your post

• You can then click on your photo and grab one of the handles to adjust the size (keep in mind a large image won't do well on a phone screen):

After

On an iPhone, I follow the same procedure, only I click on the Drop image window and it gives another pop-up with a selection of locations (Photo Library/Take Photo/Choose File); I click "Photo Library," click on the photo, it then shows me the photo & I click "Done" then it takes me back to the post so I can resize the image.

[I uploaded a second copy of the "Handles" photo called "Handles Small: this is the identical photo and I re-sized it using the handles; I just didn't want to confuse things by uploading the same file twice]

I hope this helps.

The "Attach Photo" Method:

• Click "Attach Files" then navigate to the photo and click "Upload"
An image of your photo will appear below your post

• Click "Insert . . ."

• Click where you want the photo to go and click "Thumbnail" (or "Full Image" if you want to play with the size)

et voilà (this is what the thumbnail size looks like):

Try the attach and then thumb nail as Chazz outlined above Peter.

Further to David's comments. Our server guys are always looking for ways to save server space. They installed an image optimizer that has given us no end of grief. Personally, I think it's to blame for all our image problems. I'd love to kill it.

I understand and agree with saving space, but we have all experienced upgrades that we soon looked for a way to "back-grade."

Unless I forget, I make an effort to onlt post photos that are ~500Kb; easy on a Mac: open in Preview, Export using the slider to reduce the file size and I add "rfs" (Reduced File Size) to the name so I can keep large & small files in the same folder just in case.
