I've been a small enduro/trail bike type of guy for the last 40+ years and although I appreciate and oogle at almost every other type of motorcycle, I'm not likely to change platforms until I'm forced to ride around in a scooter/wheelchair.

The man-cave in the not so distant past.
1.jpg

Recently sold this to a collector. 1985 K100RT with 56000 km on the meter.
2.jpg

2003 R1100S 99 HP stock with some upgrades it was probably 110 HP.Bought it with 1500 Km on it and sold it 10 years ago with 22000 km on it..
5.jpg

1980 500XT 13800 KMs on it. Came with a 1980 license plate on it. I bought it in 2011 it had not run in 30 years. I did a bit of work to it and it was a fun ride but the drum brakes were scary and new shoes did not help. Apparently Yamaha used the same brakes on the 175 250 and 360 enduros which were a lot lighter than the 500.

I bought this 2008 KLR650 with 24000 KM on it in very nice condition. I was at the dealer upgrading my 20 years old helmet and they made me an offer to trade it in for a new 2017 KLR650 that I could not refuse.

@terry_g - another enduro type bike...... :p

The more I see them the more I lean toward one for my next bike. I always liked the agility of my dual purpose bikes and the adventure sports are a nice blend of that and highway capability.

When I lived across the pond, the autostrade were full of the big Honda Africa Twins hammering along at impressive speeds, two up.

My daily driver is the spitting image of this except it has a Corbin solo saddle. I saw where someone nicknamed them the Velvet Sledgehammer, it fits, smooth running and lots of torque. Not bad for an '85!

Picked the bike to fit my long frame, it’s hard to find a sport bike that fits 6’ - 4”.

Ms Tecnico's ride; fits her well but too small for me and noisy but she likes it and that's all that matters. It's a '95.

I haven't ridden in over 10 years, but does it count if I still have them tucked away in the barn? :D

Still have the F3, and a Suzuki Bandit 400 I bought for the Wife many years ago. She learned to ride on it, got her M2, then got pregnant with our first and never rode again. I pretty much quit riding/racing around then too as life got in the way.

I'll have a hard time parting with the bandit, but next year I'd like to go through it, get it back on the road for a bit, then sell it for a Dual sport. KLR650, or something similar. I want to ride again, but have zero interest in riding on the street anymore. Then again, I've said that for the past few years now so.....

Next up is my 2019 BMW F850GSA Rallye.

This shows the entire fleet including the 2008 K1200GT that I sold after bringing the RT home this spring. The one up on the shelf is my 94 BMW R1100RS which I got back in trade. I owned it previously for many years and rode it across Canada and half the US. I had sold it to my brother-in-law when I bought the GT and got it back when he took the GT. I haven't made plans for what to eventually do with it yet, but the bike has a lot of memories for me, so I'm keeping it for now. It needs a bit of work to fix some minor issues but it's pretty good for a 30 year old bike with 160K on it. I may put a collector plate on it just so I can get it out occasionally once it's sorted again. Also tucked in at the back is my wife's 2008 BMW F800ST.

A bike (or 2) in the barn is much better than empty space & wishful thinking LOL! There’s always time.

I often thought racing a bike would be fun but couldn’t get past the risk/reward of it so I settled for dirt biking and race cars. Full respect for you going out and doing it, especially with that checkered flag in hand!

Nice bikes. One of the guys I used to race with had an 1100gs with 180,000km that he'd just traded for a 1200gs before he passed away. What a comfy couch of a mile eater bike that was. We were always tossing around ideas for an Alaska trip with a couple other guys but just never got around to committing. I'd love to make that trip someday.

The checkered lap pic was actually my first race ever. I had no choice but to get sucked in the deep end after that. :D I had a lot of great times at the track, and was fortunate to have some mild success over the years. Made a lot of good friends, and spent a lot of good money lol. One of these days I should get around to hanging up all the plaques......

Dug up a couple more....with a few glory days stories......

My endurance racing teammate's SV650. Probably one of the funnest bikes I ever raced. We had a drybreak/dumpcan fuel setup and could do a one stop 3hr race. Fuel light would be on for the last couple laps sometimes lol. Loved that bike.

He sold that, and got a RC-51. Just as much fun as the SV, but way more torque. Lofting the front end coming out of corners was way too much fun. We were faster on the SV though. Couldn't get the RC to turn, or run.....but that's a different $tory...... That was the last year I raced. It was a terrible choice for the class we ran in, because it burned fuel like crazy. No more one stop races lol. Fun though.....

This one was a good race. I put a 12 year old bike on the bottom step of podium against modern 600's. Just barely. This was the last lap, and I barely held it to the line. 12lap sprint race in the meatgrinder class. There was a group of 5-6 of us dicing back and forth all race long, and managed to squeeze out in front on the last lap, then I was riding as wide as I could for the last couple corners :D. The bike never looked that good again. I crashed in that corner the next round lol.

Same corner a few years later. Also running third, but crashed (big highside) the next time coming through this corner on the last lap and broke both ankles/feet. There's a theme here.....
272636_10150304877106066_6806046_o.jpg

The reason I stopped.
969768_10151739281951311_301433392_n.jpg

That was the last round I went to, and crashed in the 2nd corner of the warmup lap. Rode straight back to the pits, and parked it. The switch flip off in my brain that day. I've only ridden twice since.

My favourite street bike was my Katana 600. I bought it brand new when I got my first job out of college. Did a lot of things ok, but nothing great. I loved taking off for weekend adventures on it. A lot of trips up to northern On, and a couple weekend trips around lake Ontario through Pa, Upstate Ny, and a few weeklong ones down to Tn and Nc Eventually got into doing a few track days with it, then just got bit by the racing bug and gave up riding on the street.

That was on the tail of the dragon loaded up and heading home from a rainy week in the smokey mountains of NC. A lot of great memories on that bike.

Edit: The above photos are basically where all my money went in my 20's. The rest of it I just wasted.
