Yeah, I always had a choice. The saying that surrounded that choice was "Press hard, you are making seven copies", referring to the Release Request form that the Forces used.When I was working, I would often think, I can’t believe I’m being paid for this, it’s so interesting and just plain fun. Other than a short spell for a crown corporation most of the people I worked with were performers and great to work with. When I didn’t like the “chemistry” of a place I just skedaddled out of there, life is too short for that nonsense. Some environments are definitely toxic, however in most cases you have a choice.
Liked the work, liked at least many of the co-workers, thought a fair few of my bosses would better serve humanity if we parted them out and used their organs in someone more worthy...
The bosses I had that were really competent and capable leaders, were a pleasure to work for and as often as not, simply highlighted just how poor the bad ones were. One of the sure things in the CF, was that if you were not moved along, the person getting under your skin, would be, eventually, so your contact times were always going to be limited, at least to an extent.
