  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Calgary Area Meetup is set for Saturday July 12th at 10am. The signup thread is here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. No date has been selected yet, so let him know if you are interested here! We are not aware of any other meetups being planned this year. If you are interested in doing something in your area, let everyone know and make it happen! Meetups are a great way to make new machining friends and get hands on help in your area. Don’t be shy, sign up and come, or plan your own meetup!

I have grown tired of sorting through many and various random containers of nuts, bolts and washers trying to find 3 or 4 that match to finish putting back together whatever it was that I took apart to fix 8 months ago. No doubt the original fasteners went into 3 or 7 of the different containers used for holding such things. I have also grown tired of buying small plastic containers of bolts or nuts from the local big box for stupid prices. Today I stopped at Bolt Supply and bought 2 pails, one with grade 5 SAE fasteners and washers and nuts and lock washers holding 1590 pieces and another with metric grade 8.8 with the 1390 pcs. 150 bucks per pail including labels for bins. Not sure if it was a good deal or not but I'm happy.

I try to keep all the parts together but I run out of surfaces. When that happens, I put all the fasteners and small parts into zip lock bags and zip tie the baggie to the main body of whatever the main machine is. My Alexander Grinder is in mortal danger of being bagged.

I like that bucket o bolts idea (better than a bag o broken glass...)

It's awesome to have a nice hardware selection on hand. I built this a couple years ago, and love having it. I really miss the bulk grade 5 hardware at TSC, and need to find a replacement as some of my stock is getting low. I also need to reorganize some stuff again, and maybe pickup one of those bolt bins for the larger stuff I've been accumulating since. Have a few pails and trays of some 5/8"+ stuff that I have no home for currently and it's driving me nuts.....

I also need to up me stock of metric hardware. I barely have anything in Metric.
