That is very cool, and I agree about the angle iron idea for the weld ends, that is genius. And, not taking anything away from his talent at all, I'm just curious what kind of rod he was using for welding the halves together. I've heard tell that rails are often made of something like a 1055 which would probably be a bit finicky with welding, but maybe someone who welds for a living would know. I just "farmer weld," not claiming to be an expert.
