I would say listing the new price for items is super annoying to me.

I don't care what it is new I'm looking at something that is 30+ years old half the time.

It's even worse on machinist tools as people like to list the Auckland's price. I don't bother with these type of people unless the price they set is reasonable.

I looked at buying a 4" brown and sharp machinist level guy didn't list a price for the thing and said in ad make and offer. So I offered him 50$ and he went off on me about low balling him because a new similar one was like 400$ or something and he wouldn't take less then 150$ for it. So I sent him eBay listing for the same level was selling between 35$-75$ on eBay and just told him good luck on selling it and left it at that.

He didn't have any other machinist related stuff for sale so I figured he bought it from garage sale or something and just wanted to flip vintage stuff like the YouTube people do to make quick money.

If you want me to hold it, offer to send a deposit to hold it. Even 5 bucks, so I know you're coming. Otherwise, first one with the cash gets it. Thats how I roll, buying or selling. Way too many kijidiots out there wasting peoples time.

Matter of degree, no? You wouldn't hold it for the drive time after talking with the guy? So long as its disclosed its your call, but it would keep legit buyers away. i mean who wants to risk an hour's driving hoping someone else hasn't shown up?

Those are usually the twits who say "serious buyers only". Then how about be a serious seller and put a price on it?

Sigh, almost enough to make you go retail

Yes of course i'd hold it and not schedule another viewer for that time period, but if he says he's coming at noon, and I schedule another for 3, if he doesn't show up, the guy at 3 can certainly buy it and I'm not going to feel bad about it..

A few years ago, I was selling a trailer and scheduled a few people to come look, about an hour apart, I let the later ones know that someone was coming earlier, and they all showed up at roughly the same time. The guy that showed up first was pretty quick to seal the deal when the others showed up.

This. If the seller has this in their ad, I close the tab, move on & good riddance. It's a machinist desert around here, very few of my online purchases have been local. Damned if I'm going to make a flying trip up to Cowtown (or wherever) just to be told I missed it by that -><- much.
