  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Ontario GTA West area meetup is planned for Saturday April 26th at Greasemonkeys shop in Aylmer Ontario. If you are interested and haven’t signed up yet, click here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. No date has been selected yet, so let him know if you are interested here! We are not aware of any other meetups being planned this year. If you are interested in doing something in your area, let everyone know and make it happen! Meetups are a great way to make new machining friends and get hands on help in your area. @Johnwa where did you find that photo? I couldn't find it on Lathes.uk. Link? I thought it was a Milnes, but maybe I read that plaque wrong.

And yes, I did mean that eggbeater-crankhandle-gear-collection cross feed, although the wood turning one deserves an honorable mention at least. I suspect that red salvaged-from-a-plumbing-valve handle in Johnwa's photo is for a clutch. I once had an elderly Seneca Falls that had a clutch on the apron vaguely like that. It also had legs that were pretty much identical and that could have once been equipped with a treadle, but it had a motor by the time I got it. In fact, they probably just kept the leg design long after treadles were buggy whips, because, "why change it".
 
Thanks! And that was a clutch. Quite the machine, but as the FB seller suggests, you'd probably use it as a conversation piece rather than a working lathe.
 
The gearbox on the cross feed reminds me of the type used on Canadian Forge & Blower blowers...
What a neat find
