25+ years ago my wife and I were walking through a “liquidation store” and there were some tool chests that I bought on impulse. And because their flip up covers made about half of their space inconvenient to use I’ve despised them for 24.9+ years. To add insult to injury, I don’t think they were even a deal.

So finally they’re being re-homed and I have upgraded to:

Pro’s:
- Appears to be very well constructed.
- Full extension slides that allow the draws to be fully pulled out.
- Nice swivel casters that have a swivel lock on them when the wheels are locked.
- Made in Taiwan.

Con’s:
- Likely about 1.5+ times the cost of a big box store equivalent.

I’m annoyed that I kept the tool chests my new one is replacing for so long:

Plus, there always seemed to be one too many tool chests in the way (none have a permanent home since they get moved around depending on what I’m playing with), so having one less is nice.

I do like having a “workbench” on top of one of the tool chests, so I’ll be modifying my other tool chest to have this, and if I’m lucky this will end up the same height as my workbench.
