Are you going to try it? I've been using fusion and have broken many end mills trying to get up the learning curve. Not sure I want to go through more endmills switching.

Looks cool! I like that it has native linux support too. Good to load onto LinuxCNC machines for at the machine tweaking.

I wonder if we are getting into a gold rush for largely AI generated software (not necessarily saying this is that). I also wonder how much of it will be good vs. slop. Interesting times.

@Maker Mike yes I'm going to try it.
I was pretty set on buying a pro license for e-CAM because I really like its hybrid conversational approach. It's a perpetual license but at $1100CAD it's still not cheap.

But seeing this last night has me looking hard at this option.

I have looked at all the options from Fusion to Estlcam to BobCAD to Ezcam and e-CAM was the winner for me.

The rotary options are interesting. I don't have a rotary so I've never looked at those ops in Fusion.

I found the pricing a bit confusing... pay $199USD for 30 days, and then a bill for $399USD for perpetual? ie $839CAD? It's a bargain really but ... Dave, I don't remember if you use Fusion CAM. Why do you want this tool?

@Janger I don't use Fusion CAM because I have an intense dislike for Autodesk. 🙂 I want to own not rent my software.
According to what I read from the Takshak devs on the LinuxCNC forum, for 30 days after the intro, $199USD buys you a perpetual license. After the 30 day intro period the same perpetual license will be $399USD.
"It's a one-time perpetual licence, not a subscription. $199 for the next 30 days, $399 later. If it's no good, there's 30 days to get your money back, no argument."

I read it differently: that early birds pay $199 now, then the price goes up to $399 in 30 days. That buys you 2 years of "stable" product. Its yours, in perpetuity. The next major release however will cost you an upgrade if you choose to.

Still, for the occasional 4th axis operation it may be worthwhile, since F360 basic only covers X,Y,Z axes.

The product is, IMHO, too new to try on spec. And AI can make a truly spectacular mess, so I'm not convinced yet.

If I am stuck with importing step files as opposed to native AlibreCAD files I still like the MecSoft user interface and I paid big dollars for the 4th axis.

But I'm interested in seeing how this takshakcam works. The user manual on the web site is that crap white text on black background. Hurts my eyes.
Is there a proper tutorial?
For example:

User Defined Ops — whole-part and picked ops​

The second tab of the left panel holds every op that does not need feature detection: you either run it on the whole part or pick the target yourself.

How about showing the second tap of the left panel? They don't in the user manual. I find that strange.
