So it appears that Princess Auto is going to be offering a 20T hydraulic press for the sum of $229.99 https://www.princessauto.com/en/20-ton-hydraulic-bottle-jack-shop-press/product/PA0009193798- that is cheaper than Vevor and at least with Princess Auto I can bring it back if its absolute garbage. That said I don't really expect to need anywhere near 20T of force in the near future, but I want this style as I have an air driven 20T hydraulic cylinder that is just collecting dust and would be a perfect swap into this style of press.
I hope I can grab one when they are actually for sale... I should keep this to myself but I'm too nice a guy to do that.

Ok, yes curious minds want to know:
1. how do you know how much force is applied?
2. what is failing? Is the frame bending or is the cylinder just not moving anymore?
That question is for both Tom Kitta and Skippyelwell

Even the cheap PA presses have gauges.
My 12T starts flexing a lot at 8T and is nearly impossible to pump at 10T.

OK, thats one extra reason the one I listed is so cheap, its really just a bottle jack mounted in there, no gauge in sight on the web page

They do?

I've never seen one and my 20T doesn't have one.

Wonder how hard it is to add one? Hard to beat oil pressure and cylinder diameter.

If the frame didn't move around so much, I suppose one could add a strain gauge and calibrate it.

Mine is one of the old ones that has what looks like a quality dial gauge and it's actually a press not a bottle jack.
I'll take a pic tomorrow, when I pump it up until I can't pull the lever anymore nothing is bending and the needle on the gauge is getting close to 15

It looks like the bottle jack presses don't have a gauge but the cylinder presses do
