  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Ontario GTA West area meetup is planned for Saturday April 26th at Greasemonkeys shop in Aylmer Ontario. If you are interested and haven’t signed up yet, click here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. No date has been selected yet, so let him know if you are interested here! We are not aware of any other meetups being planned this year. If you are interested in doing something in your area, let everyone know and make it happen! Meetups are a great way to make new machining friends and get hands on help in your area. Don’t be shy, sign up and come, or plan your own meetup!

9 times out of 10 the guy is fishing for someone who will pay over the odds I find with those contact me for a price or make me an offer people. Only once has it worked out for me buying a General bandsaw for a friend for $250

I used to ask "you're trying to sell but you're not going to give a price?"

"No, make an offer"

"ok, i'll pass. I find its usually a waste of time when a seller doesn't know what its worth"

gets you an indignant "I know what its worth!"

"then why the F not just say so instead of all the games!"

Older and wiser, now I just let stupid dogs lie lol.

It's listed twice..... One states free the other $1400

I find "obo" just as irritating as "make me a reasonable offer". What the heck does that mean anyway?

Much better is: "Say what you mean; mean what you say." Just IMO, of course......

True, but you can “usually” gauge their mood by ad details and length of time listed

I’ll throw stupid numbers out sometimes and see if they bite, other times they obviously don’t know what they have and I happily pay asking price

It goes both ways, sometimes I sell stuff super cheap just so I know it’s gonna get used. I'll never understand hoarding for the sake of hoarding
