I didn't think the pervasiveness of the Crack Pipe Dream, was so established out that way.

If that lathe, as pictured, was listed for $1K, AND was local, I doubt I would cross my very small town for a look.

And this from a fella that has got up in the morning (at 0-dark stupid) and driven five hours to go to an auction and not bought anything...

...and I paid $1400 for both Lana... AND Betty.

And they both came from Peachland too!... WTF??

We all need to take a drive to Peachland, have a cold one at the Duck and Pug and then take buddy out behind the woodshed to teach him a lesson for being so abusive to equipment.

I sent a nice message to the vendor of my machines, thanked him again for the good deal and showed him the rehab process
He was appreciative

He'd prob get close to that if he would take 20 mins to clean it up.
Yep. Always surprises me when I see absolutely not even one <bleep> given towards cleaning up the residual grime, when it could make or break the price asked!

I mean, yeah, I have bought some pretty ugly looking gear, but paying $25 (no missed decimal places), for a groady 9 inch South Bend missing it's tailstock and much else, is a little different than when you are being expected to pay full (maybe) ticket for something that looks like it has never seen so much as a wipe of a rag!

I think I had about $15 in supplies (two cans of WD-40 and package of very fine steel wool) and had tracked down an unmachined tailstock casting (another $35 or so all told) when some guy offered me $400 for it, and I was no longer a South Bend owner... LOL!
