  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Ontario GTA West area meetup is planned for Saturday April 26th at Greasemonkeys shop in Aylmer Ontario. If you are interested and haven’t signed up yet, click here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. No date has been selected yet, so let him know if you are interested here! We are not aware of any other meetups being planned this year. If you are interested in doing something in your area, let everyone know and make it happen! Meetups are a great way to make new machining friends and get hands on help in your area. Looks similar to mine for a fifth of the price. Guy doesn't know how to measure a lathe. Price might be a bargain.

Yup, ask me how I know...... Never did that on my lathe, but I watched a fellow do it on a mill. Doesn't take much when the mass that is going down is big.
 
what size does everyone think that is ? 14x40 ? looks like a real big 3 jaw for a 14" lathe
 
Just scaling off the garage doors behind it which usually are 24", I'd say it has a 6ft bed, that 3 jaw might be 10" max, and the swing is 9 or 10. The spindle doesn't look even half as big as the chuck though. I bet that 3-jaw chuck is an add-on. Guy prolly wasn't happy with the cheap 3 jaw chuck that came with it.

That went quickly. Looks to be 13x40 to my eye, very similar to the Dashin Prince style Taiwanese lathes.

Fruitvale's pretty close to me, I wish i'd known about this forum 4 days ago... Not that I need this lathe, but it would've been fun to call the seller and chat.
