funny, this machine was for sale previously in Dec 2024 for 4k$, from the screengrabs I have it looks like the same machine but not in the exact same place (but maybe the same room?)

I'm guessing it's got an adapter for Deckel 20mm collets ("U2" or "355e") - the manual states the spindle taper is MT4 and makes some reference to collets with a max holding capacity of 17.5mm with a 2mm buttress thread :

and from this we can see you can mill radii with the vertical head????? umm ok

incredibly weird machine; it has a sort of "we don't wanna get into patent disputes so we're gonna do everything differently" sort of feel to it. like the X axis dovetail is backwards from how the deckel's is which I think is stupid (more exposed ways/leadscrew when the cover inevitably gets damaged), and instead of gearing the spindle drive to the motor it's with this wonky belt drive that comes out the side of the machine:

anyways, if whoever bought the machine is reading this, congrats (post some pictures of it! and don't forget to oil your spindles it looks like it's got plain bearings), and if you're looking for the manual here it is:

I believe that is the precursor to the MH600. MJAUKET is correct that it is not actually a U2 spindle, but there is an adapter to the U2 collet. MT4 seems to be pretty common in the older machines (whether Deckel, Maho or one of the many other similar brands). In the image from the FB posting you can see the pull collar for removing the taper adapter. #40 taper is also common (still with the S20x2 male buttress thread) - certainly since '63. You are right, one can mill radii with the vertical head (not that I've ever done that, but hey it certainly is possible). I don't have the crank handle, there is a graduated dial and the same square drive that is used on the quill feed / quill lock.

On the MH600 they fixed that external belt drive, so the belt drive is just to the main gear box, and it is the gear box that sorts out the drive to both spindles.

There’s a bunch to like there, but enough oddball stuff that I wasn’t going to jump on it.
