Looking for an appropriate motor

John, @skippyelwell scooped that one already. DM me if you want another one. But I should keep the others for those projects, that, you know, I have been saving these ones years for anyways......

No problem. Truth is that after I asked, I saw @CWret's bundle of steel drill rods and I'm leaning that way now anyway.

Would never want to delay any of your, you know, years away projects! :p

@ShawnR was kind enough to let me have one of his linear motors, thanks again.
It has 3 wires coming from it, blue is fwd, black is rev, white is common with start capacitor going to the blue/blk wires.
I'm wondering I can use a momentary fwd-off-rev switch like the drawing below to activate it?
What I have labeled red on the drawing is actually blue.
Thanks

No. I mean, yes to a momentary switch. But the wiring looks confusing. And, I think that when you throw the switch, are you not connecting hot to neutral? We don't switch neutrals in AC wiring. That I know of unless you switch everything off to isolate a piece of equipment.

I think the attached is easier. You can use a SPDT or half a DPDT. You just want to power either of the power leads.

See attached

OK, looking again, maybe no short. You have probably tried this already since this post was yesterday morning. But I would still keep it a little simpler and the neutral wire away from the hots ie no need to connect it to the switch.

I haven't tried that configuration yet, I tried a different one and blew the capacitor so have ordered a new one from Ali.
Not wanting to blow another one, I thought I would ask you guys.

Does this help? If the switch is in the red direction indicated, then this scenario sets up for both power leads to be getting power.....not good

I got the drill press table motor finished yesterday, I ended up going with that beefy little motor on ebay.
It's not much to look at but it works very well, I tie wrapped the original crank to the back in case some future owner wants to go back.
