This is nothing urgent. Ideally, if I could find one of those mini shapers for cheap (doesn't matter if it doesn't work; i'd gladly fix it up) that would be amazing. I'm in the maritimes (New Brunswick)
Hey! Welcome from Ontario Farm Country! Consider posting an introduction in the new member intros section of the forum. Tell us a bit about yourself, your interests, your shop, etc.

That might be a trick. I waited years before I found mine in Ontario. I can only imagine how long you will have to wait in the Maritimes.
Best to connect with a few maritime members who can keep an eye open for you and maybe get you going with more traditional equipment (lathes, mills, grinders) till then. We have at least a half dozen very knowledgeable members out your way.
Swisschris make sure to watch the market places, I really do not like FB marketplace don't like FB at all but they marketplace is a great resource. Plan and put away the money you can budget for one and be ready to go get one. A great deal is one thing, just finding one local can be another, so you want to be able to pounce. . They do turn up in very different prices and conditions by region. Keep an eye here on the forum. You already did a good thing and posted your looking. There are some great people here who will help you look as Susquatch has already posted. I have a peerless 7 inch I got off a member and when I run it I am almost hypnotized by it. I had always wanted a shaper since seeing one as a kid. I almost built one from the gingery series of books I did build the lathe.
