  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Ontario GTA West area meetup is planned for Saturday April 26th at Greasemonkeys shop in Aylmer Ontario. If you are interested and haven’t signed up yet, click here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. No date has been selected yet, so let him know if you are interested here! We are not aware of any other meetups being planned this year. If you are interested in doing something in your area, let everyone know and make it happen! Meetups are a great way to make new machining friends and get hands on help in your area. Don’t be shy, sign up and come, or plan your own meetup!

Looking for a four jaw chuck for a Craftsman 12" metal cutting lathe.

Have a look through this thread

https://canadianhobbymetalworkers.com/threads/1-1-2-10tpi-3-and-4-jaw-threaded-chucks.1833/

The thread name is misleading (should be 1-1-2-8tpi instead of 1-1-2-10tpi). Company out east has new-in-box old-stock from 40 years ago (3 and 4 jaw chucks). Several of us have purchased these (I'm awaiting a 3 and 4 jaw imminently). Full disclosure - they need some TLC to clean out old grease etc.

I went that way because of the threaded spindle myself. Too much $$$$/time/patience required to put a chuck on otherwise.

Just spoke to Ron at HH Roberts and he's sending me pictures and a link to their website for these chucks. He also said they were NOS and have been sitting around since 1970, with the process of just having to take them apart, clean, regress and reassemble. Looking forward to getting his information back. Thank you Kevin for this tip and very complete reply.

Tom,

Are you in Calgary? We might be able to save a little on shipping if we order together.
Close, Okotoks. I’ve got a line on another chuck - if you send me your # I could call & explain as it’ll take too long a text to detail & the seller might have others - let me know.

I thought I had posted it in a "conversation" to you. It appears I posted it to your "Profile post". I tried again to post it in a "conversation" with you.
