Link Belts - Type A or Type Z

Looking at replacing a 3L belt on a machine with a link belt. I figure I need a 3/8" link belt. Headed to Amazon to find they have a Type A and a Type Z. Not finding a lot of clear information about the differences.

@YotaBota That is a good reference, but I'm still missing some info on the Type Z.

My guess from going over Amazon a couple times more...... 3/8" is a Type Z? and Type A is a 1/2"? I hope that is correct. The one Amazon listing showed a Type Z as 1/2", but you needed to select the one you wanted. This threw me off.

I won't order yet.

Link belt showed up yesterday. It measures 3/8" wide. I ordered the Type Z from Amazon.ca. Approx. $40 for 5 feet.

It seems to sit a little higher out of the pulley compared to the original rubber belt. There is enough clearance around the guard on this machine so I do not think that will be an issue. (I have not installed it yet.)

Cheers,

That is a good price, I remember paying close to $20/feet about 10 years ago for my Atlas 618.
It does look a bit high on the pulley. They do wear in a bit. I had to adjust the link belt on my mill after a few hours of use. I will have a look at it tomorrow. I think have some spare new links to compare how much it has settle since.

Compared a new and the used belt on my mill. It is difficult to measure accurately , but visual I can tell the new belt is by about a 1/16" higher.
I remember the belt needed to be adjusted a few times before it settled. Probably because it was not used much at full load. .
The instructions mention to re-adjust the belt tension after 24hrs , full load.

On the left a A/4L .517" wide and on the right 3L .389" wide.
Both link thickness is about. 100"

The installation instructions Fenner drive
