LIkely not a deal, but drool: Monarch 10EE in Spokane, $10000 USD

BTW @Tom Kitta if you ever find a 10EE - in any condition - for 2K$ again, please let me know. I now have the confidence to completely rebuild one, and would do so happily. I'd even sell my Modern 14X40 to make room for it!

yes I'd have the bed reground if necessary - and use tercite on the carriage for those lathes it is worth it. I almost got a 10ee some years back, that he'd sell me with real matching chucks and collet closer, but he backed out last second and gave it to his brother instead (sad face)

For those not in the know, rebuilding a 10EE is somewhat different from other lathes - a lot more work and one should consider it an 'advanced project'...

The guy in Alberta here grinds lathe ways by the foot if you send him just the lathe bed. Fir a 60" lathe is is about 4000$ (3nm years ago) and for a 30" bed it was just over 2000$ - I thin 2400$. A 10EE would com in between these, and so say 3000$.

If you send him a lathe (for him to disassemble and rebuild) a 10EE is about 25K$ for everything, including scraping the tercite. This does not include replacing worn parts, which are reasonably priced BTW. (well for a OEM part anyway)

Exactly - 25k - I am on the same page as Dabbler.

Given the prices today for 2k I am sure to snap one as well, even for 3k. The issue is not about 10EE being bad or anything like that even when a bit worn out - the issue is with the $$$ to pay for one.

The 3 10ees I have seen must all have been auto oiling ones. There was no visible wear and no light beneath a starrett straight edge. None of them were withinn my reach.

I didn't mean to limit the thing tp 2K$, Tom. If you find one you are going to pass up, let us all know here - one of us might just pick it up!

i'm just going to plunk this right here...in case you forgot :D

Yeah I know. But it is in ON & as I said, worth the drive if a deal could be set up. In AB 2k today would be similar level deal.
