im cheap and refuse to pay the 407 toll. but brother lives near 407 and has transponder. when we take 407 in perfect weather and open road there is always some yahoo who manages to have an accident. there is no cure for stupid

Yeah this is a nice medium sized mill, the table is compact and the machine isn't super deep. I'm going to scrape every wear surface, and connect a new 3 ph motor and VFD, power feed on the X axis, and maybe the z axis.

I agree - it isn't possible to fix stupid. But whether you like to pay the toll or not, it says a lot about human behaviour that a modest toll will get people to spend more in gas idling in traffic on the toll free road

Dude, are you in the GTA? The 407 tolls are not modest by any means. I used it on Nov 19 2024 when I was tired and feeling unwell and wanted to get home from Guelph in under 3 hours during the rush hour. It cost me $24.36 in charges. Over $8 of that were BS account fees and camera fees.

That's criminal IMO, but to your point, the extra fuel costs to take the 401 are under $2 in my Jetta.

So few people want to take the 407 due to the obscene fees that the clown in charge wants to build a new non-toll hwy just north of the toll hwy, when it would be cheaper, faster and far more effective to just buy back the 407 and eliminate the tolls so people will actually use it
