I know what you mean. It's amazing what that man all finds! Glazing over prolly isn't the right words though. More like wears me out! How does he do that? Must have some kind of AI working for him. I glaze over browsing Facebook and Kijiji. He saves me from going insane.
Best of all, I already owe him for a few VERY nice buys. Who wudda guessed he could do that from Alberta to Ontario! A few waaaay better than they looked on FB or KGG.

Based on @Jayham & @YotaBota 's leads it does indeed look like one of the generic Taiwanese 10 - 12" belt drive machines, in this case looking like a 24" bed. Presuming that all that's wrong with it is that it's dirty, is the $1500 "going rate", a good buy or??
My sense is that it's a good buy but I'd like to hear opinions too.

It's definitely worth going to have a look at and take a test drive. Take a piece of stock and a couple of bits with you and give it a turn.
What tooling comes with it? Chucks, tailstock chuck, face plate and so on. Do the gears have all the teeth? I see a steady rest hanging on the wall, maybe there's a follow rest as well.
It does have a tailstock so you're already ahead. lol

It's a lot of lathe for the money but it looks horrible. Photos can be very misleading. But,.....
Given the amount of dirt all over it, why isn't there a ton of oil all over it too. Looks like it was never oiled. NOT GOOD.
Why is there more dirt on the front ways than the back? That's really odd. I'd expect the reverse. What was it used for?

Why does a lathe like that have a rocker style tool post? That would have been job one if it were mine. Don't get me wrong, I'm not against the rocker style, but I would not keep it on a lathe like that. What were they using it for?
It's hard to gauge these things but I am leery. I think you have to go and see it, examine the ways, check the gear box, look for wear, etc etc

@YotaBota @Susquatch , good points both. The fellow coordinating the sell is helping out a gent of 93 who is downsizing and he says there's more than in the photo - basically have to see it to know what's there. The steady is a good indication.
Based on the back story and photos for selling another item, it looks like a hobbyist that hasn't touched the gear for quite a while (hence the lantern toolpost) and is divesting so no surprise that it's in need of a good cleanup. It's located in a large garage/workshop and the sediment might be anything from grinding dust to paint overspray. To me it has signs of there having been oil in places but probably dried up and absorbed by the sediment. At least it's not covered in rust! The non-roadworthy vehicle in the shop isn't covered in the same sediment. I figure a wipe down will tell the tale of the ways & a lot more pretty quickly.
The bright side is that if I get the call to come and have a look pretty much everything can be inspected. It has the belt drive, (non sumped/non-gearhead) main gearbox like @David & @Dabbler have in their machines so flip the cover up and have a look.
It's wait & see right now.

I have two folders of bookmarks of search terms & locations. I right click on the folder, Open All Bookmarks, and let the browser do its thing. With the one folder (mostly Alberta searches), I try to search every day. That way I only have to look back until "1 day ago". Anything new or previously linked to gets opened in it's own tab, onto the next search, rinse, repeat. The second folder I search once a week on the weekend, that one includes mostly BC & SK searches, w/ a few from ON.
Once all the searches have been perused, I open CHMW & start posting. If a link was previously viewed, I search the forum for the title, find it, if it hasn't already been posted 4 or so times, I'll post again. If there's been a price change, I'll post that. Sometimes I post duplicates, but try hard not to.
There are currently 62 categories in the daily search, about 10 of which are personal. The weekend search is currently 20, about 4 of which are personal. If I come across a new topic on the forum that doesn't have its own corresponding search parameter, I make a new one. That means in any given week I'll search for 70-odd machinist/metal working terms on Kijiji, mostly in Alberta but also BC, SK, ON & a handful Canada-wide.
I can get the searches screened in about a half hour and then post every 3 minutes until I'm done. Et voila!
