Just about the cutest chuck I've seen

I found this Pratt Burnerd Int 80mm 3 jaw chuck a while ago and finally got around to picking it up the other day.

Sadly it is only the standard accuracy model 9580-00805 rather than the super precision model, but was a great deal.

I have 3" (80mm) chucks brand name Harlingen in various jaw configurations. Because of the size they are super useful. I also bought their 5C backplate arbor to mount in my 5C SpinDexer. Or make a plate for various setups. The Harlingen (made in China) is very accurate. Other brands out there have variable quality. The similar looking 3" 3J from Accusize was quite bad, it got returned.

I already have a chinese 3 jaw chuck with a 5C collet mount and it is fine.

I bought this one because it is Pratt Burnerd of good quality and I figure I will put a 5C collet mount on it for when I need to turn diameters just over 1 1/16" and don't want to change chucks to a d1-3 mount 3 jaw. Plus this one will stay in my home shop while the other will be in my brothers for use in a grinding spindle.

Gotcha. You probably know this but grinding chucks offer models that are up the cuteness scale. Typically longer length, slender tipped jaws, smaller minimum closing diameter & usually 6 jaws. The bit of messing around I've done on my TCG I get it now. There are setups where the tool & wheel & fixture holding device want to occupy the same real estate.

Oh yeah, I want a nice grinding chuck one day but damn things seldom come on the used market

Nice chuck.

Here's my cute old Burnerd (not Pratt Burnerd, and made in England) chuck, mounted on the dividing head for my Burke #4 milling machine.
Found it at a yard sale in a tiny hamlet north of me and reluctantly forked over two bucks for it.

You know, I have to say it.

You suck!

Surely you were studying something more useful than mulgere hircum? Which constitutes much of what I learned…

(Something I shouldn’t ask someone I don’t know, but there seems to be some humour in this thread)
