  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Ontario GTA West area meetup is planned for Saturday April 26th at Greasemonkeys shop in Aylmer Ontario. If you are interested and haven’t signed up yet, click here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. No date has been selected yet, so let him know if you are interested here! We are not aware of any other meetups being planned this year. If you are interested in doing something in your area, let everyone know and make it happen! Meetups are a great way to make new machining friends and get hands on help in your area. Don’t be shy, sign up and come, or plan your own meetup!

Hello to all. I suspect I may have already met a few of you over the years.
I'm a Journeyman Machinist from Calgary, though I've been in management roles for the past 8 years or so, so now my machining occurs at home. I work in Maintenance at the Zoo here, prior to that I was in manufacturing for 15 years.

At home I have stuffed a Bridgeport and Chipmaster into my garage as well as a bit of woodworking and welding equipment as well. Carpentry, fabrication, electrical and mechanical work are also hobbies.

Adding a couple photos of the mill and lathe. Both are operable though both are also in the midst of electrical upgrades and DRO installs. The Bridgeport came out of a forging plant in Ontario and has taken up most of my time what with leadscrew replacement, power feeds on all 3 axis, and surface grinding the table clean and flat. The Chipmaster came from the University of Alberta and needs a proper tool post mount and replacing some seals to sort out the oil dribbles (thankfully the variator is in pretty good shape).

Thanks for having me.
