...but really, since I don't have one, why not try a Unimat 3-jaw chuck for $15.00?
Unimats aren't all that accurate anyway, so at the worst I can chalk it up to experience.

Pretty good score. Clean it up nice, you can sell that and make some money. Unimat collectors are always looking for parts.

Actually, I have a Unimat that needs a chuck. However, my Unimat is a Unimat 3 and the chuck is for a Unimat DB/SL, so I'll have to make an adapter for it.

The lathes are super light duty, but I've had a few Unimats and always found their chucks quite good. Emco had that German quality thing going
Hm. I've had two Unimat DBs over the years and had trouble with accuracy. Probably just MY inaccuracy.

Anyway, this one is very likely to end up inaccurate, as I don't have a way of threading the male part of the adapter in situ, as I should. I just hope it won't be too inaccurate; otherwise, I'll have to consider buying a ready-made one for about five times what I paid for the chuck.

These 2 chucks are 2-1/4”
They came with an early cast iron framed DB200 that i bought for the 2 chucks, i use them often.
I made adaptors for MT3 & MT2 so they’d be usable on my SB9 lathes & 6” RT.
Here set up for drilling bolt holes in inner & outer heads on a tiny engine.

Nice idea to make adapters. Besides fitting my chuck to my Unimat 3, I also hope to make the necessary nub to use the chuck with my Sherline rotary table.

I, too, make little engines, and I foresee a lot of use for this chuck (also 2-1/4").

The interesting thing is there was only one set of jaws for the 2-1/4”
Austrian 3 jaw chuck, i thought one set was missing.
I took it apart to clean, noticed the jaw teeth were elipticle shaped, they would go in either way.
With some trial & error i figured out to grip on inside jaws you put:
Jaw 1 into #2 slot
Jaw 2 into #1 slot
Jaw 3 into #3 slot
This was the pre-internet days when we were pretty much on our own
Ishmael, is your chuck like this?
I had never seen a 3jaw like this.
But remember this was 35 yrs ago.
Also the threads for the Unimat DB200 chucks are M12x1, 26tpi so adapters are pretty easy to make.
