  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Ontario GTA West area meetup is planned for Saturday April 26th at Greasemonkeys shop in Aylmer Ontario. If you are interested and haven’t signed up yet, click here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. No date has been selected yet, so let him know if you are interested here! We are not aware of any other meetups being planned this year. If you are interested in doing something in your area, let everyone know and make it happen! Meetups are a great way to make new machining friends and get hands on help in your area. Don’t be shy, sign up and come, or plan your own meetup!

I'm very excited

We’ll need some pics when you get it set up.

FYI. If you had passed on it, then that SM would likely have ended up here with me. I spoke up for it but a bit too late (Nice ethics Skippy).
Great that it has found a Forum member as a new home. Forum member to Forum member is as good as it gets.

I love my Myford but would like something a little bigger. Not sure why. That’s just me. That SM is the perfect size for the space I have available.

Now that the opportunity to get Skippy’s SM has evaporated (congratulations on your new addition slow-poke) I have decided to stick with the Myford and learn to love it even more. :)

You could shoehorn a third lathe in there...

Now that's an attitude I can admire!

The only advice I have is to avoid growing a big expensive tooling collection.

I think I just got lucky with the timing, I just happened to wander off into the classifieds I'm guessing shortly after the ad went up. I have been toying with the idea of getting a SM or something similar for a while. Logistics was the only hurdle that looks to be sorted out.

Sorry I scooped it on you. Chances are something even better perhaps a Colchester will pop up the moment this one arrives;-)

I know a guy that may sell his 2000 series Standard Modern if he ever gets the time to get his 13x40 running. This assumes the 13x40 cuts as accurate as the SM. Had this Darbert 13x40 for over a year and only just started working on it.
