Just out of my experience. For some time I had an access to the recycle bin (!!!) in big medical institution nearby. It was a Eldorado, Klondike and Bonanza for me as a tinkerer and a hoarder. Even broken parts and pieces had a fully functional expensive and precision built components that were fun to recover and reuse. All was made in US, Switzerland or Germany. Dream...
See if you have Hospital or University or Research facility close by and if they have some junk bin outside.

About 1/2 are 6 8 or 10mm - different watchmaking lathes. The other half goes from bench to 7.5 hp and 5100 lbs. Three floor models. Why so many? 1) just kind of happened. 2) I like them 3) most do something the others don't - serve different functions. 4) have some accessory the others don't, 5) are excess and will be sold or 6) I just like them 🙂.
