  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Ontario GTA West area meetup is planned for Saturday April 26th at Greasemonkeys shop in Aylmer Ontario. If you are interested and haven’t signed up yet, click here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. No date has been selected yet, so let him know if you are interested here! We are not aware of any other meetups being planned this year. If you are interested in doing something in your area, let everyone know and make it happen! Meetups are a great way to make new machining friends and get hands on help in your area. How many lathes and why?

I wanted a smaller lathe to complement the VDF turret lathe I have so I found a 90 year old 6 inch swing Portass. Of course I soon found a nicer lathe, an Atlas 618 then a nicer one a Southbend 9c, then a Myford ML7 and so on. I reached a total of 15 lathes before I started getting rid of some.

Good lord man! That's hilarious. Maybe I don't like lathes as much as you but that is a good thing in my case because my space or financial resources could never permit that much lathe loving.

And why not, life is short LOL. Maybe we should have a forum rule that each new family member gets at least get a brief photo introduction so it feels welcome. Lets start with that VDF Boehringer 48SR toolroom turret 19x36. Sounds very interesting!
 
Can do. It will take awhile as it is unkempt looking right now and has other machines in it's area.
