  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Ontario GTA West area meetup is planned for Saturday April 26th at Greasemonkeys shop in Aylmer Ontario. If you are interested and haven’t signed up yet, click here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. No date has been selected yet, so let him know if you are interested here! We are not aware of any other meetups being planned this year. If you are interested in doing something in your area, let everyone know and make it happen! Meetups are a great way to make new machining friends and get hands on help in your area. Don’t be shy, sign up and come, or plan your own meetup!

Hello everyone,

I am excited to join this group and eager to learn! I have enjoyed metal work as a hobby for over 20 years, mostly welding and basic fabrication. In 2020 I thought it would be fun to give machining a go. What a can of worms that has turned out to be! I picked up a used 3hp Modern knee mill and an old South Bend 10k lathe (in amazing condition for its age!). I also picked up a little 7” Delta/Milwaukee shaper. It has been fun learning about these tools, how to use them safely and it has been awesome to expand my options when building stuff. I have had a blast with the machining, but am very much still a novice and look forward to learning from this crowd!

I'm located in Ontario, so a long ways away. But there are more members in Calgary than everywhere else combined - or so it seems sometimes. Vancouver Victoria is running a close second.
