I came back from a job in lake Louise, passed the park gates around 12.30 today (going east), I've never seen it lined up at the gates like that (going into the park), another few minutes down the road it was like rush hour (going west). Everyone headed to the mountains today I guess

Yea smokehouse 93, excellent smoked meats, right on 93 when going into invermere, hard to miss

How do you find a job in a dream place like LL ? :) Beautiful place .

Just have to be here, and be willing to bid on these jobs (or work for someone who is). Places like LL, Banff, Canmore, Waterton, etc. dont normally have the manpower or in my case, the type of skilled trade locally, often, especially on larger jobs, the trades are from Calgary or further. They are nice jobs so long as they dont stretch out to long, you are still away from home, living in a hotel. You also run out of touristy type activities pretty quickly, there is a limited amount of things you can or want to do after working a full day, 3 hour hikes are not normally one of them, and there is often not much else.

I also often get sent out there for the absurd jobs, the "install these 3 20ft long 500lb beams on the 3rd floor of a 80 year old wood structure down a hallway full of shoring posts supporting the roof using 3 chain falls a come along, without cutting any holes for your rigging, then weld a clip on without burning the building down", specialty stuff even within the trade

this was LL, install 1" thick ss plates between 400-700lbs ea, me an an apprentice, 2 days to move the 12 plates 200 feet through the site, another 2 days to clean anchors and install plates, a job that was given to us by another steel company that couldn't do the install. Who puts 1" plate around a hot tub ? Rich touristy spots i guess

One of my BC trips was a bridge section, three trucks, the sections were offloaded in a residential neighborhood. They had scaffolding setup, with landing spots for wheels? casters? I don't know the term, but they let the bridge section roll across to the next landing. They had no way to get cranes or machinery to the other side

And this was just for pedestrians to walk across

All beautiful places , I've been to them all . I heard Jasper is rebuilding also . Was there when it burned up , what a shame . :(
