Hercus 260 Metal Lathe $1,000 Emma Lake

It’s no surprise the price can go up on this kind of machinery. The market dictates value here so nobody should be feeling bitter about it. Case in point, I picked up a Lista cabinet this morning for $500. The advertised price on CL yesterday was $200.
As far as this Hercus is concerned, it’s a 10”x22” between centres. Some are calling it a 36” but that refers to how SB advertised their lathes going against conventional norms (bed size vs between centres).

I know this is an old post but just for the record. The hercus 260 comes in 40" or 49" bed, as does the earlier 9" swing version. Hercus made these vee bed lathes between 1939 and 2004. They also made the South Bend GS26 in 1990-1991. Their lathes have been shipped all over the world.

Welcome aboard, from Lillooet, BC, Canada. I have run across a few Hercus lathes, I think that they might be better than the South Bends that they are designed after.
