Turning down a motor shaft is not an easy task. Is there a reason why you can't bore whatever that mates to 10mm?

All the motors I see online with that part number have keys or flats. There are even some with 8mm shafts. This one has a 10mm shaft but a flat so turning it down results in an interrupted cut.
Also I don't know about the brushless motors and whether they can be taken apart. For example because of the way that stepper motors are made if you take the armature out the motor will never be the same. The armature serves as a keeper for the magnets. Once they are assembled the coils are used to create the strong magnetic field.

No idea if brushless DC motors suffer the same issue.
