  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Calgary Area Meetup is set for Saturday July 12th at 10am. The signup thread is here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. No date has been selected yet, so let him know if you are interested here! We are not aware of any other meetups being planned this year. If you are interested in doing something in your area, let everyone know and make it happen! Meetups are a great way to make new machining friends and get hands on help in your area. Don’t be shy, sign up and come, or plan your own meetup!

Guy Lautard

The last I heard he had sold his myford after buying a hardinge, and moved up the coast. He was a great writer and never did any video’s on the internet. Frank Maclean was a great Ontario based writer, he passed a long time ago.

Well, we are the ones to carry on, and some will become contemporaries. Me, I am just going to try carrying on, hopefully pass on something and learn a few things. Try to stir the odd pot. Keep a fire burning.
I enjoyed his writing, have the first 2 books.

He had a great 'voice', it felt as if you knew him after reading the books and they were always good for strong dose keeness. Too bad, sad for the hobby.

Sorry to hear this. I visited him many years ago at his house in North Vancouver and bought a couple of his books. I really enjoyed talking to him.

A real shame! I cold called him after reading number 1 had quite a chat he was a very easy man to talk to and share stories with. the mia list gets longer every day it seems : (
