Tool Good Canadian source for Tormach TTS ER collet holders?

Tool
Accusize is Chinese, the reseller just happens to be in north america, probably no better than the aliexpress direct

Yes, accusize is a Canadian distributor of Chinese products.

However, they buy in enough volume to have clout that we don't have as individuals. I know from first hand experience that they actually demand production changes when their products don't meet expectations and I have seen copies of correspondence to that effect.

Furthermore, Accusize has NEVER failed to make good on their product quality claims with me.

Lastly, CHMW has a group discount on Accusize Products.

I don't consider Accusize to be a Canadian equivalent to Ali Express.

I am happy to recommend Accusize to our members.

I ordered genuine Tormach from Studica. It will be interesting to compare to the Amazon/Ali holders I have now.

Studica doesn't appear to have real Tormach ER20 TTS holders. And their ER16 is "Request a quote".

I've also been happy with my Accusize purchases but do they sell any TTS stuff?

I've bought these https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B089YVGRDP/ and they don't have much more runout than genuine Tormach ones. Note that they are not suitable for use with an ATC (which I don't have!).

Regarding TTS stuff, any interest is a genuine Tormach superfly in excellent condition? $125 shipped.

I'm interested in the superfly cutter. Does it come with any inserts?

The genuine Tormach TTS adapter and ER Collet holders arrived.

I have 3, R8 to TTS adapters:
- one of my generic adapters is really wonky to about 0.006" basically garbage.
+ Both the Lyndex and iCarbides are both under 0.001", the iCarbide is actually a touch better than the Tormach, all in measurement < 0.0003"

I have many ER16-20 collet holders, I only measured 10; both the Tormach and iCarbide are all under 0.001"
Some of the generic Ali type collet holders appear wonky when measuring or observing the ring, however the actual end mill is actually fairly true typically ~ 0.001"

So the summary is:
> for the most part the cheap Amazon/ Ali type stuff seems pretty good and is about 1/3 the cost of the genuine Tormach (if you can live with the wonky looking ATC rings)
> unless you measure you won't really know for sure, I did have one really wonky adapter.
> the cheap Ali collet holders do NOT have a chamfered stub.
> the iCarbide stuff seems pretty good and is more affordable.

The "wonky" holders are not a total loss. I use them for larger (>#7) drills where the runout is not so important. ER holders reduce needed Z-height plus even the bad ones are better than many cheap drill chucks.

Yes, the stub of some of the cheap holders is not chamfered and that makes it a pain to insert. However, I simply secured a 3/8-dowel pin in the collet and chucked the dowel pin in the lathe and chamfered the stub. Mine were not particularly hard and I had no problems using a carbide insert.
