which John?John,
Will you be going over how to make shop drawings in your walkthrough? Good stuff to know if you are a manual machinist.

Holy Jiminy..... Do your wives know?Too funny eh! I think one of every two guys on the forum is a John!
I'm less experienced at shop drawings. I am more geared towards 2d house and hvac plans, BUT that said, I can cover how to take a 3D drawing and generate 2d shop drawings from them. My conventions for layout and such may not be typical of what others would do but it can aide those who just need to know how to get it done.Sorry Toronto Builder.

Ok, easy peezy. It helps to quote whatever you are replying to so everyone knows who you mean even if you don't name them. Just highlight (block) the appropriate text and then click the reply button that pops up.
Yep.Cool, I think even pointing out that you can make a shop drawing to use when you are actually out in the shop would be good information to have.

oh yeah... now figure out how to take a 3d curved surface, export and flatten it so you can send it to the laser cutter dude.I actually figured out how to do that. I was tickled pink given that I couldn't do much else!

how about glue a print onto plywood and cut out shape with a jig saw....No worries. No laser cutter. No cnc. No plans for any either.
I would like to be able to do some CAE at some point though. (stress, heat, function, vibration, etc etc) But I expect I would have to pay for that.
