  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Ontario GTA West area meetup is planned for Saturday April 26th at Greasemonkeys shop in Aylmer Ontario. If you are interested and haven’t signed up yet, click here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. No date has been selected yet, so let him know if you are interested here! We are not aware of any other meetups being planned this year. FREE Granite Slabs approx 12 x 24" YYC

So I went on Kijiji looking for some granite pieces i went all the way down to Okotokes, the guy wanted me to take all I only needed a few pieces to do some flat sanding I guess you can call it lapping

They look like sink cutouts from a granite kitchen countertop.
 
Well I think you need understand how a surface plate works and its importance to impact on accuracy in measurement in use.

I know enough to know that I can point you in the right direction and that it is important. As to the skills required to get there, still learning.

So I suggest you watch a few of these videos to help in this regard.





There are many more but these should get you started (and are a good reference for the rest of us as we occasionally we forget).
