  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. No date has been selected yet, so let him know if you are interested here! We are not aware of any other meetups being planned this year. If you are interested in doing something in your area, let everyone know and make it happen! Meetups are a great way to make new machining friends and get hands on help in your area. I was in the local Sally Ann this afternoon and grabbed these two hardcover books. There is no date or copyright info there's some interesting illustrations. How about a lineshaft lathe with an attached lineshaft grinding attachment.

Nice buy, and tgey look to be in very good condition.

I have several older books/sets with similar titles: while maybe considered outdated by some, I find them a good reference for a small home shop ad they deal with one-off situations using straight forward approaches.
 
They are in good shape. There is a note in Vol 1 that makes a reference to a third volume, I'll have a look next time I'm in town.

Edit - A quick search brings in dates of 1957, I can't believe they would use lineshaft illustrations in a book that "new". And there was a third volume published.

Nice! I love old books like that, but will admit, with the never ending supply of interesting stuff on the internet these days, I rarely find the time to read them anymore. Still buy them whenever I see them though.

Raymark Friction had a Fiberglass/Rayon blend opening/blending/carding/layout/resin-coating/curing line for making laminate sheets running off of a line shaft from sometime in the 1920's until they shutdown in 1997: if it works (and is made safe), don't change it!

Here are my oldest (Burghardt, no date but per archive.org 1922) and newest (Moltrecht, 2nd edition, 1981 – 1st edition was 1971) books of this type:

Both live in my office, not the shop.
