  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Ontario GTA West area meetup is planned for Saturday April 26th at Greasemonkeys shop in Aylmer Ontario. If you are interested and haven’t signed up yet, click here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. No date has been selected yet, so let him know if you are interested here! We are not aware of any other meetups being planned this year. If you are interested in doing something in your area, let everyone know and make it happen! Meetups are a great way to make new machining friends and get hands on help in your area. Don’t be shy, sign up and come, or plan your own meetup!

I was not really up to speed on them & no real requirement to be until a recent project sharing across the pond. But it has come in super handy. I think the recipient just requires a free viewer app. You can view the part in 3D, rotate it around, take some measurements... Pretty cool. For you guys running Fusion, can you export that kind of file?
 
It’s built into Solidworks if that’s your flavor.

I don’t know about other systems but when I was working with PRO/E CREO you could export the model as a 3D .pdf Maybe that’s an option too.

I don’t recall the work flow but it’s probably a “save as” option.

Yes I also used 3D.pdf for the first time before trying eDrawings. 3D.pdf worked fine on my end but the recipient didn't have things set up quite correct on his side. Maybe it only works with Adobe Reader vs. other non-Adobe readers or app/OS needs a 3D plug-in? Anyways good to know there are these useful exportable visualization tools to share to others, they serve a useful purpose. I guess I'm just late to the party LOL.
