Thanks Charlie,
No model input on Ditron. But no big deal since I don't have models anyway. Usually just a piece of paper with dimensions and references. It's kinda hard for me to imagine anyone wanting to load a model on a manual mill/lathe. CNC yes.
Yes, my Ditron has a graphical display. More on this later.
Regarding the Touch Bullet Points:
Ditron does have a multi-input screen. Don't really want full screen input. Always gets me in trouble in the car. LOL! Can't imagine how much trouble that would cause with a DRO!
Ditron has full real time graphical display screen. I like that. Shows where the cutter is vs the target plus the measurement.
Ditron has 4-axis plus axis adding
Ditron has rpm - but no probe.
Ditron is compatible with all modern scales
Ditron is configurable for multiple users and multiple machines
Ditron has built in configurability for lathe, mill, and grinding.
Ditron has no display of cutting speed, feed rate, or chip load. How does this work without input? Not sure I like that, but might be cool. I confess I always wanted to do it separately.
Ditron has sub datum recall at several levels.
Ditron has tool library but no input or output loading. Who would use that anyway?
Comment - Reading some of the new features, I get the feeling that some users are combining a DRO with CNC. Why? Doesn't CNC give you its own DRO capabilities? What am I missing here?
So bottom line is that there are indeed a few new things it can do. Obviously added since last time I looked.
FWIW, this business of updating is probably the single biggest advantage of the Touch system from my perspective. Who can't love that? With Ditron, Aikron, and DRO boys, you get what you got and that's it. No future upgrades. So lots to be said for the upgradability of the Touch.
Thanks for that Charlie - always good to look sideways every so often.
