DRO Shaking

Did you bought your dro from Amazon? everyone for the assistance! Feel so much better now that I don't think I flushed money down the drain.

And if there are ongoing issues, I can work on the gibs again.

BTW: I was thinking about throwing a couple of sandbags into the base to help reduce vibration. Anyone have experience with that? Would also help quell the harmonics.

No. I went straight to the source and bought it off of Aliexpress. Lots of viewing and comparing. Actually shipped pretty quick. Not sure just how long because I wasn't even counting yet. Thought it would be a month or more than it was. Free shipping, came by DHL. I think I'll be happy with it now that I know the flashing digits can be solved.

Couple things besides cables and the like. Contacts can be an issue, spray contact cleaner.

Also do the simple touch test on each component while its running, if it stops you have a better idea where to look.

Final thing is shielding, sometime you get electrical noise in to your system that only shows during running. Shielded cabled and the like is important.

Looks like you will be up and running before me! I'm so slow. I move at the speed of smell.

What's the Z axis on a lathe?
The Z axis on any machine is parallel to the spindle axis. So for a lathe, movement along the bed (using the carriage or TS) is movement in the Z axis.

Search for “machine tool axis designation”. You can find pictures and descriptions of the axis of movement of various types of machines (mills, lathes, HBMs, grinders, etc).
