Does Anyone Here Have A Manual For This Old Meter?

I picked up this old multimeter of Kijiji with a couple Simpson meters that were in need of repair.
An Elavi 5 made in Germany. There is a sticker in the battery compartment that says 11-77 so I believe it was made in November 1977. Its in excellent condition. The Ohm setting works and is accurate compared to my other meters. I searched the internet and I cannot find a manual for it. Does anyone here have a manual for it or know where I could find one?

I think I paid $50 shipping included for the three meters. I was able to repair the Simpson 260 in the centre, its now an accurate usable meter.

What a score. The Simpson meters are sought after by instructors. That price is very good for all three. The 270 is a bit better. The 260 is the standard for analog first year electrical meters. Neither one has the built in circuit breaker which is a bit nicer if you can find one. You can get most of, if not all the parts for the Simpsons. We have students punish them pretty hard in the labs and the techs can get them back in to service pretty quick.

Thanks for the download! The Simpson meter on the left was missing the movement. The one on the right needed a good cleaning and had a bad solder connection on the circuit board.

I had a really nice Simpson that was my workhorse meter for many years. I loaned it to a buddy who was an expert on the Ontario Grid. Apparently, the grid is controlled by amps not volts. He used my meter to diagnose his 240V water heater, put the meter into amps mode, crawled behind his water heater, and basically bridged the voltage terminals. He blew my Simpson to smitherines and crawled out from behind there looking like wily coyotee with a black magic smoke face.

We both learned something that day. High voltage and low voltage are not handled the same way at all. I also remember thinking that I need to learn more about high voltage circuits. That was 45 years ago - it never happened.

Simpson RIP.

Quebec.

I'd pay $80 for a good one near me. There is just something about an analog needle that you can't get from a digital display.
