  • Several Regions have held meetups already, but others are being planned or are evaluating the interest. The Ontario GTA West area meetup is planned for Saturday April 26th at Greasemonkeys shop in Aylmer Ontario. If you are interested and haven’t signed up yet, click here! Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. Let him know if you are interested in a meetup later in the year by posting here! Slowpoke is trying to pull together an Ottawa area meetup later this summer. No date has been selected yet, so let him know if you are interested here! We are not aware of any other meetups being planned this year. If you are interested in doing something in your area, let everyone know and make it happen! Meetups are a great way to make new machining friends and get hands on help in your area. Don’t be shy, sign up and come, or plan your own meetup!

okay...who's got space for it?

Someday I would love to own a lathe like that, AND have the space for it. If it's still in good mechanical condition, that's a lot of machine for the money.

Did some quick searching and couldn’t find accurate specs for this model. Anyone know what spindle bore would be, spindle mount, and what threads it will cut?

typos.... sigh...

This is a 17" lathe with an 80" bed. It is pre-1960, so the most likely candidate is the L2 spindle, with a typical throughbore of between 3.5 and 4.5" . British manufacture. Company moved to Halifax in 2015. here's more info:

seems to be parts only...

There used to be a guy a DSG who would send you a copy of the original bill of sale showing all the options and specifics of your particular machine. That's the sort of little detail that helps support their "Rolls Royce of Lathes" reputation. He's retired and must have been last of the DSG old guard....... the rest don't return emails :(
