If you find the spindle bore is greater than 1.5" please rub that in his face too since I told him so.

Remember, I'm on a 10%-of-new price budget!!! Besides, I have a nice Japanese TaShing 1740 in my sights.

I picked up the darbert 1340G today and it’s it a really nice lathe! Had a couple minutes to do some quick machining to repair a carrot harvester plow adjuster.

Farm machinery is the kind of repair that I do most of too. No way I'd weld anything though. I'd make the whole part out of one piece of solid bar instead.

Why? Cuz I can't weld worth shit.

Wrapped it all in Welding blankets, only leaving the weld joint exposed.

Nice! We are going to be completely redesign this setup this winter so we have just been fixing them as they go. We build custom farm machinery as well!

I don't do that. Just one-off repairs. Mostly, "Can you make me one of these that isn't broken? A new one from Case IH is 4 grand and won't get here till the snow blows."

I do like those jobs for sure! Custom built steering knuckles for McCormick tractors! We just had to do one not to long ago!
