Craftex CT042 14x40” Lathe - $8500 - Calgary, ab

Hmmm.

Craftex vs King.

Worth $5000 more?

Wish Quebec was closer!

This is what I found at KBC for 14x40 using almost the same part number from King Canada which has the taper attachment and also weighs 1375 lbs
The KBC one does not have the taper attachment and also weighs 1375 lbs

Not sure where 3400 lbs comes from.

LOL, This is worth maybe half+ of what he is asking. We had lathes 14x40 that are Modern Tool sell for under 5000 in Calgary recently.

8500 is price of a new lathe of this type - i.e. I can get a new lathe for 9500 after 30second search

https://squareshardware.ca/king-can...gearhead-metal-lathe-with-2-spindle-bore.html
down to 9000 after 60seconds

Down to 8300 CAD

Bell machinery is in BC but they sell to AB - good guys - I have dealt with them before.

Oh and I take a King over BB old lathe - at least king is in production.

The 3400 lbs comes from heavy duty lathe mentioned in the ad. The Craftex and King are light duty lathes. King lowest price after 2min search is 8300 CAD brand new.

The 3400lb has me wondering....the gear selector knobs are all in the same place as the Craftex. The shape is identical to the Craftex....where are they sticking the extra weight?

I have a very strong feeling based on some detective work that the Grip 14x40 is not actually 3400 lbs but 1400lbs. i.e. a typo.

Also grizzly sells a better lathe 8500 CAD in their 14x40 lineup.
