Converting lathe to CNC

My little syil ax250 was right in that price range new but it is pretty light duty. Definitely a good machine for small hobby stuff.
 
ELS electronic lead screw is automating repetitive functions not giving you full CNC. But it costs less and is much less complicated to learn and use. It is a good compromise - I'm tempted by this. Looking more closely at the site John references above you could probably buy and install for $1500 and get a very nice setup.

Be sure to turn on closed captioning as he explains everything with text not speaking.
