We have been a proud lead sponsor of this high school robotics team for many years now and they were silver medalists at last weekend's season opener.

If you start feeling grumpy along the lines of "kids these days", you have to get to a robotics competition. They are different every year; the robots face challenges and perform various tasks in series of points based, weekend long competitions. The exciting part, for me anyway, is seeing how into it the kids are. What they build is fantastic. The energy level is off the charts and the work ethic incredible. They spend months of evenings and weekends designing, making, programming and training to produce a competitive robot.

A big shout out to the three Ward Engineers who also mentor the team. It couldn't happen without you guys!

That's wild stuff. I had an opportunity to lurk in on some comps & workshops through my buddy who was one of the mentor team for his high school daughter. Some real world life skills, career compassing & I suspect lots of good memories will result from that experience. Good on you for sponsoring/resources/involvement in whatever form. A good investment.

Congrats. I've been in talks with my old High School, where my kids will be going about this stuff. It's a slow moving train at this point, but at least there was some initial interest. The ball is in their court at this point, but I will poke again at some point to keep it moving. There were budget concerns, but I will volunteer my shop and resources if I can. I would have loved to have had opportunities like this when I was in school.
