Arbutus has also explored interest in a Fraser Valley meetup but it seems members either missed his thread or had other plans. No date has been selected yet, so let him know if you are interested here! We are not aware of any other meetups being planned this year. Collet block fine tuning

Could you run a slitting saw though the one side then make one of the tapped holes a clearance hole to clamp it to the center?

I'm not sure what you mean. I think maybe you are referring to making the factory drive plate clamp on the center ? If so I think that would have the potential to twist/cant the shaft.

I'm both tired and dumb right now so it might become more obvious to me tomorrow morning when I'm fresh and just dumb.

Ah it came to me what you are suggesting! Yes that would be possible. I think the center should have a flat spot on it for the tightening bolt. Surely a bolt onto a hardened surface can't ever hold very tightly?

Well I went ahead and "machined" flat spots with an angle grinder on my shaft and dividing head center. That made the difference in being able to hold the set up securely.

Even though I had a nice sliding fit between the shaft and the collet block, I decided to use some medium strength loctite to take up any clearance slop that there was.

First passes of .010" deep showed that was not going to be enough to true things up, so I went to .020" and that was enough until side 3 which then needed another .015". So I went around them all and in the end it took .035" to get the sides all true.

It's probably overkill for anything I will ever do, but it's nice to have precision when you can.

Now onto the hex block which I think will be truer to start with.
