Any of the Calgary members spot the pair of v22 osprey's flying formation this evening ? They just flew over the house at 1000ft ish

I wonder if we'll be seeing any other cool aircraft over the weekend while the g whatever summit is on

As an Air Force brat I think Ospreys are very cool! Wouldn’t fly in one, but cool. Even the Blackhawk that now flies over my house to take a look see at the border daily is cool and has a much more energetic growl/flap sound than the 407’s I’m accustomed to.

Will there be a nice chinook blowing to welcome Trump with a smooth-ish ride into K-country?

Rumor has it that Trump is flying back forth to Montana, however, shortly after I saw them I texted everyone I knew (obviously!), and a buddy who happened to be at yyc spotted the two of them landing there, so I'm unsure, I would assume they would fly direct to wherever ...... Unless air force 1 is at yyc ????

We are out of chinook season, but there was some weather this evening, it would been a bumpy ride no doubt

Wife also said she heard and felt a very large aircraft fly over but didn't see it.

A buddy in Lethbridge saw a pair of Osprey's fly over Thu or Fri. Before they became visible he couldn't make sense of the sound, kind of like a helicopter & kind of not.

The flight radar for yesterday on that tanker was posted on one of the aviation Facebook groups, looks like he did big circuits over k-country for the whole day

Did anyone hear about the Cessna getting intercepted, that has to be one conversation I wouldn't want to have

"the jets firing warning flares, and the plane was met on the ground by the RCMP"

Love to be a fly on the wall for that one! LOL

I’ve seen flights of F-18’s (American AF) from the air- NOT during an intercept. Good looking birds altho not as fascinating to me as their contemporary Mig 29’s.

Suspect Canada has assets such as CF-18’s based in Calgary for this little meeting, so not that far or expensive as scrambling from Cold Lake. Chalk it up to a useful training exercise. Not so fun for the civi who’s now enjoying some intrusive chats and paperwork.

Glad I’m not involved on either end of this one.

Yeah, fair point, but it’s like anything else, pilots have to fly to stay sharp and current. The kerosene (and wear and tear on the plane) is going to get burnt whether there’s a G7 or not.

How much do you like your corn flakes? ;-)

im with @Lucky7, pilots are getting paid flying or not, and they need hours to stay current, so the cost is a moot point. That money would get spent intercepting a Cessna or flying whatever fake training sortie of the month.

I imagine the pilots were happy to do the flight, although im sure it was a struggle to slow down to what im sure was a 172 for the intercept, they were probably still blowing past him in slow flight by a good 40kts

Edit; side note, me and a buddy had a gentleman's bet on how long it would take someone to bust that airspace, he won, i figured first day. There are a lot of old timers and farmers who just fly off there private strip in and around that cyr, probably never even look at a notam, although im surprised it was a Cessna and not a NORDO ultralight
