Buying/Importing US General Tool Box

Not sure if this is the right place for this post but I'm in the market for a tool box and I'm not loving the options available locally. I'm hoping to find either a 54" or 72" upper and lower box with a 22-24" depth. Most cheaper new boxes are only 18" deep and I haven't found a reasonably priced used tool-truck box. Hard to believe there's so few options between the fairly cheap home depot and Canadian Tire options and high end tool boxes. I think the US General boxes would fit the bill. They're 22" deep and I like the drawer layout. For reference a 54" upper and lower is $1500 USD.

I did a quick Google search and it seems like a few people have done this but I didn't find anything from our current tariff era. I guess my questions are;

Has anyone done this with tool boxes (or other equipment)?
What can I expect coming back over the boarder in terms of duty, GST or other fees.
Anything else I'm not taking into account?

Any info or thoughts are greatly appreciated.

You will pay GST for sure. And possibly 25% tariff as well.

Coupled that with 39% exchange rate and it might make you think twice.

Yeah I'm totally comfortable with the GST and exchange. Say $1500 US is about $2100 CAD. GST would only add another $105.

Duty and tariffs are where I'm unclear.

Seems like a LOT of money to me. Not saying it isn't worth it. But at that price, I'd be willing to wait for sales, or buy used on Kijiji, marketplace, or auctions.

Last Snap On top and bottom set I bought I paid $1500, off Kijiji. It's older but it matched my big box for vintage. Only problem is it's hard to get drawer slides if you need a pair

Border agent told me-

If it's made in the USA, no duty. Imported into the USA, probably duty at the applicable rate

Most likely no tariffs, agent mentioned there should be a list online to check yourself, but they didn't see it quickly looking

If you yourself are going over to grab this, if you stayed 48 hours you can get an $800 exemption on the taxes

I crossed into Ontario, agent said you would probably pay HST only (depending on country of origin or tariffs)

Thanks, that's great info. I really appreciate it. I think its a viable option.

To everyone saying it's a lot of money, I agree. I've been watching for a box for some time and if one comes up I'll jump on it. But it i think the amount of time, effort and headach it would save would justify it.
